Fellow Chagrin Falls resident,

I’m running for election to be your representative on Village Council and would appreciate your vote on Tuesday, November 2.

If we haven't met yet, please allow me to introduce myself. I'm a relative newcomer to Chagrin Falls, having moved here from Chicago a little over five years ago. My wife Jaclyn and I were looking for a place to settle down and raise our two kids – Preston (9) and Evelina (7). We wanted a great school district of course, but also a place with a vibrant, walkable town center and a real sense of community. We found all of that and so much more in Chagrin.

If we have met you likely know how much I care about this town. When I saw plans to demolish the Bancroft Estate and excavate the hillside – putting a keystone property, the historic WPA wall, and neighbors’ homes at risk – I stepped up to help create Save Grove Hill and spread the word. For months I worked with concerned residents, village government, and the Western Reserve Land Conservancy to find a solution, raise over $600,000, and ultimately to preserve the house and create a new village park.

I plan to bring the same energy and commitment as your representative to council. These are a few of my priorities.

Improve communication between the village and residents; to make it easier to know which issues are being considered by the council, committees, and commissions. During the Save Grove Hill initiative I spent dozens of hours monitoring agendas and attending meetings just to keep up. I think we can do better.

Increase pedestrian safety and expand options for personal mobility; this is already a great place to walk, but I intend to explore how we can make this an even safer, more accessible environment for everyone – whether on foot, stroller, bike, or wheelchair.

Protect the historic character and natural beauty of Chagrin; while allowing for necessary change and responsible growth. I believe it is possible to evolve and improve the built environment without losing the charm that makes the village so unique.

I appreciate your support and welcome your questions, concerns. or feedback. Feel free to reach out any time.
